School Partnership Program

Iraqi Children at Al Hudabiya Elementary School in the Ghazaliya District, a neighborhood in western Baghdad

OSOT was asked by SGT Scott Sheaffer of Alpha Co., 1 BSTB, 1-10th Mountain Division deployed to Baghdad, Iraq to help them collect school supplies for Iraqi elementary schools the Battalion had adopted.  So OSOT agreed to help our Troops realize their vision!  How could we not?  This school partnership program was a huge success!  To see SGT Sheaffer's report and the report from 1 BSTB, 1-10th Mountain Division on this project, please follow this link.

Airport Gate Passes for Military Family Members – The Transportation Security Administration has issued a directive pertaining to military passengers at U.S. airports. According to Security Directive 1544-01-10w, families of military members may be granted access to sterile concourse areas to escort the military passenger to the gate or to meet a military passenger's inbound arrival at the gate.

The family member can go to the airline that the military member is flying on and receive a pass to go to the gate. They will be required to have a pass and a photo ID to get through the security checkpoint. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to stay with the departing military member longer before they depart, or to be able to greet them at the gate upon their arrival. This is a wonderful change, spread the word.

Wear Red on Fridays!  – We plan to do this EVERY Friday until all our troops return home. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is that on each and every Friday we, and every red blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.  Let’s see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a shining sea of red.  Let's lead by example; wear RED on Fridays!!

Dog Tags from Dad/Mom – This group is sending dog tags to our Troops that they in turn can send home to their children.  Can you imagine the child’s excitement when he/she receives something from their Dad or Mom so far from home!  Please be sure to visit their website here and help get these dog tags to our Troops.
