Let Freedom Reign!

Fourth of July 2004

2-23 IN, 4-2 SBCT

Thank you so very much for keeping all of us in your thoughts. Myself and all of my Soldiers enjoyed all of the snacks, sundries and squirt guns. It is great to see a grown man sneaking up on his buddy to "get" him and having a great laugh, especially in this environment. It means so much to us all to know that people back home care, think of, and respect the sacrifices made here each day by these men and women. Thank you again, from all of the "Tomahawk" Soldiers.

Signed,

 To all those who volunteered,

My name is SFC Damian Randolph and I am the Platoon Sergeant for the Tactical Unmanned Air System platoon that was adopted by your organization. First I would like to say thank you for your support. We received your boxes with the 4th of July gifts. I shared the gift bags with the soldiers in my platoon (25 of us) and then the remaining gift bags were shared with other platoons here at FOB Warhorse. Everyone was so excited to receive these gifts and you can imagine how long it took them to fill the water guns and start messing around. Some were filled with water and others with lemonade, it was a blast and it was great to see them relax and have fun.
Again I thank you for your support, rest assured these gifts did put a smile on everyone's face. They began to thank me and I reminded them to read the cards enclosed and to take the time to send an email or letter to your organization; I am merely a messenger and do not deserve the thanks. For all the time you and your organization have taken out of your personal schedules to support our troops, I personally salute you! "Let Freedom Reign"!!

To the Operation Support Our Troops Volunteers,

Our unit, 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery, out of Fort Lewis, just received a shipment of your goodie bags.  The squirt guns and neckerchiefs were just awesome as were the snacks and the thought.  It is nice to know that there are great Americans out there who support us. Please convey to all who helped a big thank you from all of us in the "Red Lion" Battalion.

We had an incredible pack out for our 4th of July project and can't thank all of our volunteers enough for their time and talent!  We began packing the "birthday" bags at 10:00 a.m. and finished up and sent approximately 200 boxes to the post office by 1:00 p.m.  We reached our goal of adopting 2,500 Troops and then some -- we sent 4th of July "sparkle" to 2,673 Troops!!

For all of our hard work, Blaine and Diane Anderson rewarded us with strawberry shortcake.  What a special treat and such a taste of Summer!  Thank you, Blaine and Diane, not only for the shortcake but for the continued use of your wonderful barn!

Every pack out, we have volunteers who really go the extra mile and this time we would like to acknowledge the efforts of Donna Watts.  Donna dove in with incredibly short notice and gave up the last four weeks of her life to make sure this was a successful pack out.  She was never too busy to run an errand on OSOT's behalf or give up her time to do what was needed to have everything ready to go on pack day!  Thank you so much, Donna!  You truly represent the best of our Country and her Citizens!

As always, OSOT wants to acknowledge and thank the corporations and people who continue to help us with donations.
