What We
Heard From Our Troops

MNC
– 1C3 Future Ops, Baghdad, Iraq:
Nadine, Lee and
Claudette,
OSOT adopted my
staff section for Christmas and I wanted to send you
a note of sincere thanks. As most of us are married,
spending Christmas away from our wives and children
was particularly hard, but your love and kindness
helped to brighten the day. Your wonderful
organization sent so many goodies to us we decided
that we couldn’t just keep them for ourselves and
had several early Christmas’s where we passed out
your gifts to others to ensure that as many as
possible received your blessings. Thanks for what
you do, your efforts and thoughts are deeply
appreciated. We also ask that you keep our families
in your prayers. They suffer and endure more than we
do and are an important part of the military family.
Sincerely,
MAJ Scott “Andy”

Dear OSOT:
I wanted to thank all of you
who gave of yourself this Holiday Season, in order
to share some Christmas spirit with some of our
nation's bravest warriors. As some of you know, the
men of A Co., 1st BSTB spent their Christmas Eve
honoring a fallen comrade. This was an
exceptionally hard time of year to be engaged in
such activities. When you are deployed to a combat
zone you have a tendency to focus solely on your
surroundings, and you forget that the entire world
does not exist within the Baghdad city limits.
Receiving the unbelievable amount of support that we
did from OSOT, reminds us that there is a reality in
which suffering and struggle are not the norm,
but rather they are the exception. Your Christmas
gift to this unit was a renewed focus. A focus that
will drive these men not only to survive this
deployment in order to return to the reality that we
are accustomed to, but also to make that reality an
idea that the Iraqi people are accustomed to. I
want to thank you for your continued support, it
makes a world of difference.
Sincerely,
SGT Scott R. Sheaffer
